Dr. Ward and his staff, welcome you to Plano Animal Clinic

We invite you to visit us in person. Our general services include both wellness and sick patient visits, vaccinations, soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, full laboratory testing, radiology, pharmacy, and microchip identification.

Our alternative services have come to the forefront in the last 10 years, and we've seen some real breakthroughs. I am especially pleased with our results in treating pets with potentially lethal viral diseases, such as canine distemper and parvovirus, and irritating diseases such as kennel cough. We've also enjoyed success in treating feline viral diseases, such as feline leukemia, FIV, rhinotracheitis, and calicivirus. In addition, we have developed some novel approaches to treating heartworm disease, allergy, allergic dermatitis, hyperlipemia, and more. Another exciting area of care for our patients at PAC is spinal adjustment therapy (VOM Spinal Adjustment). We combine the VOM technique with Erchonia cold laser therapy and LED light-point acupuncture to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders from back pain and weakness to hind limb paralysis.

Since embarking on this style of practice, our patients have enjoyed a higher level of healthy living, reduced sick patient visits, and fewer trips to the emergency room after hours. Improved health for your best friend may be just a phone call away.

What Does The Laser Do?

This is the question that everyone asks. In a nutshell, cold laser therapy uses energy in the form of concentrated light to enhance the body's ability to repair itself. More specifically, cold laser therapy has been demonstrated to do the following:

  • Reduces pain and inflammation in arthritic joints and spine.
  • Reduces pain and inflammation in physically injured joints, spine, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue.
  • Improves the body's ability to repair compromised or damaged cells, tissues and organs.
  • Enhances the body's immune response against infectious organisms such as virus, bacteria and fungi.
  • Accelerates wound healing.
  • Improves the body's ability to repair spinal cord injury following a disk rupture or herniation. This is especially important for Dachshunds and other small breeds prone to back injury.
  • Improves blood microcirculation to injured joints, tissues and organs.
  • Increases the body's ability to manufacture three vitally important antioxidant enzymes - super oxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase.
  • Increases available energy to the body's repair mechanisms without increasing toxic free radical release, a consequence of normal cellular energy production.

At Plano Animal Clinic, we use an Erchonia PL 5000, class III, cold laser, one of the most advanced units on the market. In our hands, cold laser therapy has been, and will continue to be, a marvelous tool for safely improving the health and comfort of our patients.

Note: While laser therapy has helped many of our patients, individual patient response may vary. Cold laser therapy is not considered a "stand alone" therapy, but works in concert with other treatment modalities.
